The Welsh Open Snooker comes to Newport – special ticket offers!
This half term, the best snooker players on the planet will be in Newport for the Welsh Open Snooker. The tournament will take place at the neighbouring Newport Centre from 13th – 19th February.
Kingsway Centre customers and staff are being offered a special deal on family tickets, buy one adult ticket and get one child ticket free. Furthermore, the council are offering buy one get one half price on adult single session tickets, to redeem this simply quote ‘147council’.
The event will feature star names including crowd favorite Ronnie O'Sullivan, World Champion John Higgins, new sensation Judd Trump, Masters winner Neil Robertson and World No 1 Mark Selby.
Local favorites Mark Williams, Matthew Stevens, Ryan Day and Dominic Dale will all be trying to give the home crowds a Welsh winner.
The tournament has been a regular fixture on the snooker calendar since 1992 and boasts prize money of over £200,000, with the winner to pocket £30,000. It promises fast moving action in the early stages with matches best of seven frames, with no interval.
Defending champion, John Higgins, said: “Snooker's got a bit of a buzz at the moment. It's an exciting time to be a player and hopefully to be a fan as well. Anyone who comes to Newport is going to see brilliant matches.”
